Hillier Nurseries, Chelsea Flower Show 2017
Produced, Directed and Edited for Canvas Films who continued their collaboration with Hillier Nurseries. We produced two fast turnaround films, to showcase their 2017 Chelsea Flower Show exhibit, another Gold Medal winner!
The highly lauded garden centre and nursery business have been exhibiting at Chelsea for over 100 years and have, to date, won a record-breaking 72 Gold Medals.
To fully capture 2017’s exhibit, we produced two films; one exploring the design of the garden, with the other focusing on planting. Both films aimed to give viewers valuable, take-home content; from design and structure inspiration, to planting ideas and advice.
Both films were interview-based and took a naturalistic documentary tone. Steadicam filming helped the camera to flow, so the viewer could glide ‘through’ the space. To complement the film, motion graphics were created, in the same style as all print graphics, ensuring that all print and digital graphics tied together, retaining brand identity. 60 second versions of the films were also produced for Instagram.
In the run-up to Chelsea Flower Show 2017, we produced a short film for social media to tell the story of Hillier’s history with Chelsea. Having first exhibited in 1913, we were able to use archive photos and animated text to look back on Hillier at Chelsea through the years.
“We worked with James and Canvas Films for the second year running for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2017. The team really understand our business and what we were trying to achieve with our video content to accompany our presence at the show. Not only did they come up with different creative solutions to our brief, but when it became clear that the final solution had to be altered at a late stage for reasons beyond everyone’s control, they were very proactive in finding the best way to do this.”
“During the shoot they were friendly, helpful, took the time to make those who were less confident feel at ease and also quickly developed ideas for new shots based on what they saw in front of them.”
“The final videos were high-quality and an asset to our show communications, particularly in terms of engaging with our growing Facebook audience.”
